The ChatGPT app for iPhones is now available in India, the company announced in a tweet. The app first launched in the US, followed by 11 more countries this month. Its developer, OpenAI, says the iOS app is now rolling out to more than 30 countries. The company previously said the ChatGPT Android app would roll out later.

An app version of the ChatGPT app can be very useful for users as information can be accessed on the go. ChatGPT remains available via the web on PC, Android, and iOS platforms, although an app usually offers smoother performance and interface.

India Today Tech also briefly tested the app and found the interface simple. Needless to say, it is available to download for free via the Apple App Store. However, the app kept crashing during our brief test. The app allows users to view the history of their chats, similar to the web version. Users can also disable the Chat History and Training option if they do not want OpenAI to access it to train the GPT language model.

Otherwise, it offers the same features as the web version. Users can ask questions, and ChatGPT will provide answers and solutions in conversation. The AI (artificial intelligence) chatbot can also solve math problems and review computer code. OpenAI also offers a ChatGPT Plus subscription for users to enjoy an enhanced ChatGPT. With the subscription, users will get faster results, support for plugins and no waiting time. The company is also testing functionality to let users upload an image, and ChatGPT understands elements in the image. This can be useful for users to understand certain passages or create extended lists.

Interestingly, the ChatGPT app includes an option to upgrade to GPT Plus, but the price is in Indian Rupees (Rs 1,999). The web version only shows the price in US dollars ($20).

ChatGPT was released as a web version for public use late last year and has become one of the most successful technology launches. The chatbot became the fastest growing platform in the world, reaching 100 million users in the first two months after its public release, which apps like Instagram and TikTok could not achieve. Its creator, OpenAI, also developed the text-to-image generator, bot Dall-E.

ChatGPT’s iOS app can be a big hit among users as the platform is already popular among many users. The chatbot understands languages including Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Russian, Chinese, Japanese and Korean. The ChatGPT can also respond in Hindi, although the proficiency may not be as high as in English.
