By Divya Bhati: Unified Payments Interface (UPI) is becoming the primary means of money transfer for all small or large transactions. From buying vegetables from roadside vendors to paying electricity bills or even booking travel tickets. UPI has literally taken over cash and cards. UPI apps like Google Pay, PhonePe and Paytm not only provide hassle-free money transfer but are also secure and offer a host of other features like monthly payment tracking. But what if these conventional apps dump you at the last minute due to a low server? Or you can’t pay because your app needs to be updated but you can’t do it on mobile data? Well, there is another app through which you can initiate UPI payments and that too without downloading the app. Because the application we are talking about is already installed on your mobile phone. We are referring to WhatsApp UPI transfer feature called WhatsApp Payments.

The WhatsApp UPI payment feature was launched a few months ago and allows users to transfer money with the same ease as sending a message. So, without even downloading an app, you can easily send money to a mobile number or by scanning QR code. Here is the step by step guide to set up payments on WhatsApp in the chat interface window.

How to increase WhatsApp payments

Step 1: Open WhatsApp application on your Android or iOS smartphone.

Step 2: Now open the chat of the person to whom you want to transfer money. You can also tap directly to Payments by tapping the three dots in the top right corner.

Step 3: Now tap on “Add your payment method” and then click on “Add bank account”.
