For people receiving state pension, the annual life certificate, or Jeevan Pramaan Patra, must be submitted by November 30 every year. This can generally be done by going to the bank and submitting a hard copy of the certificate and providing the biometric proof. But there are several people who find it difficult to move out and physically go to the bank and submit the life certificate due to their old age. If they fail to do so, they will not be given their pension which can cause them a lot of problems. So, what can be done in that case. They need not worry because if they cannot come to the bank, the bank will come to their doorsteps and take their biometric and certificate and submit it to the bank. This is made possible through doorstep banking facilities. There are six ways in which pensioners can submit their annual life certificate digitally and use their pension.

Digital Life Certificate for senior citizens

The Digital Life Certificate (Jeevan Pramaan), a digital service with biometric support, is available for pensioners. They can generate DLC using the Aadhaar-enabled biometric authentication method instead of traveling to the disbursing agency office to produce a physical life certificate.

According to a circular issued by the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare on 30 September 2022, pensioners can submit the life certificate using the Doorstep Banking Alliance of 12 public sector banks or the Doorstep Service of the Department of Posts for submission of Digital Life Certificate. How to submit life certificate through Jeevan Praman Hall

Through the Jeevan Pramaan portal, pensioners can submit their life certificates online. The Jeevan Pramaan application should be downloaded by the pensioner from the portal. The pensioner must also submit their fingerprints using UIDAI mandated equipment. An OTG cable can be used to connect a fingerprint device to a mobile phone. The Jeevan Pramaan portal has a list of UIDAI mandated devices.

How to Submit Life Certificate through India Post Payments Bank (IPPB)

In November 2020, the Department of Pension and Pensioners Welfare successfully launched the “Step-through Service for Submission of Digital Life Certificate by Postman” initiative, which was developed by the India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) of the Department of Posts and Meity. A pensioner needs to download the “Postinfo APP” from the Google Play Store to use this feature via a mobile device. How to submit a life certificate through doorstep banking

Doorstep Banking is also offered by the Alliance, which consists of 12 public sector banks and provides “Doorstep Banking” for its customers in 100 major cities across the country. The life certificate collection service was made available by PSB Alliance under the guise of banking. A DSB agent will come to the pensioner’s door to provide the service. The pensioner can book a service using any of the three available channels, including a mobile app, a website or a toll-free number.

How to submit life certificate by face authenticationa

Using the Face Authentication technology system based on UIDAI Aadhaar software, pensioners can also submit Life Certificates. With this method, a Digital Life Certificate can be created from any Android based smartphone by taking a live photo of the pensioner and uploading it online to the Jeevan Pramaan mobile app.

How to submit life certificate by postman at home

The Department of Posts together with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity) launched the Doorstep Service for the submission of Digital Life Certificate by Postman in November 2020. To submit a life certificate with this facility, a pensioner will have to download the Postinfo App from Google Playstore.

How to submit life certificate signed by designated officer

In case a pensioner submits a life certificate form signed by a “designated officer”, personal appearance is not necessary. According to paragraph 14.3 of the CPAO issued Scheme Booklet, a pensioner who presents a life certificate in the required format and with the required signatures is excused from appearing in person. As per the CPAO Scheme Manual, a list of designated officials authorized to sign life certificates is enclosed as Annexure-I.
