Millions of iPhone and Android users are paying for ‘vampire bills’ that could cost you hundreds of dollars a year

Millions of iPhone and Android users in Australia pay for “vampire accounts” that can drain your bank account by using multiple subscriptions.
Many apps can often trick users into signing up for subscriptions, some of which can be quite expensive.
Other times, users will sign up for app subscriptions and simply forget to cancel.

However, there is a simple way for both Apple and Android users to check their subscriptions.
The only way some subscriptions can be canceled is through the official app store.
Other subscriptions, such as Netflix, that you sign up for outside of the app store will need to be canceled on the official website where you first signed up.
How to check subscriptions on iPhones
For Apple users, their subscriptions live within the Settings app, rather than the actual App Store.
By typing your name at the top of the settings menu, you should see a tab for Subscriptions, tap on it.
There you will see all your subscriptions registered for by the App Store.
The handy menu also shows billing dates for each subscription, and whether it’s billed weekly, monthly, or annually.
By tapping on a specific subscription, you can then see how much it costs you.
You can cancel any subscription by tapping the red Cancel Subscription button at the bottom.
Most subscriptions will still allow you to use the service after you cancel until the next billing date.
How to Check Subscriptions on Androids
To check Google Play subscriptions on Android devices, first go to the store and make sure you’re signed in to the correct account.
From there, tap Menu and then Subscriptions where you can see all your payment plans.
Select the ones you want to cancel, then press Cancel subscription and follow the prompts.
Again, most subscriptions will still allow you to use the service after you cancel until the next billing date, but it’s worth double-checking just in case.
There may also be options to pause a subscription, if the app allows it.
This means your plan will pause at the end of your current billing period.
You can do this by opening the Google Play Store on your device and signing in to your Google account.
From there, press Menu then Subscriptions and select the subscriptions you want to pause.
Then tap Manage, and Pause payments and select the period for which you want to pause them.
Finally, press Confirm to pause the payments.
