DC boss James Gunn is reportedly bringing Jon Kent into Superman: Legacy

With the unveiling of James Gunn’s initial plan for his envisioned DCU, fans are trying to connect every possible dot and predict the upcoming future of this brand new DC universe. And following the speculations surrounding the DCU, many have come to believe that James Gunn is bringing Clark Kent and Lois Lane’s biological son Jon Kent into Superman: Legacy due to the following factors.

One factor that implies the above possibility is the title itself, Superman: Legacy, as many believe that the Legacy factor will revolve around Clark Kent’s young son Jon Kent. And with James Gunn confirming that it won’t be a Superman origin story, fans believe that Superboy will get a chance to shine in the new DCU.

Another major factor teasing this possibility is the upcoming movie The Brave and the Bold, which will follow a seasoned Batman with his adolescent son Damien Wayne. And according to comics, Damien Wayne and Jon Kent are best buddies so it makes sense that the upcoming DC universe could revolve around the descendants of the world’s best.

If we’re calling a Superman movie “Legacy” and specifically exploring the relationship between Clark’s human and alien heritages, *especially* as Damian is about to debut, I’d be surprised if we didn’t get Jon Kent early not continue.

I’ve seen this idea floated around a lot and it’s starting to make a lot of sense to me that Superman: Legacy is a Jon Kent movie and then The Authority movie is going to involve Clark like the recent run.

do you think superman legacy will end with a timeskip of superman and jon kent? This would explain why Damian is the current robin of the dcu ngl

As a Superman fan, I would find it hilarious if Superman: Legacy focused on Jon Kent, Superman’s son, finding his way in a world, trying to live up to his father’s legacy.

Many comic fans will lose their shit.

James Gunn is likely to bring Jon Kent into the new Superman: Legacy

At the moment, the director of The Suicide Squad is pretty vague about his upcoming portrayal of Superman and the speculations about Jon Kent’s arrival in the upcoming movie might be a bit far-fetched. But considering James Gunn and his eccentric approach to creating a cohesive story for the DCU, that might not be far from the truth.

Superman: Legacy will hit theaters on July 11, 2025.
