SkyMesh supplies free internet connection to 30,000 families

Telecommunications provider SkyMesh, the Australian Government and NBN Co are providing free broadband to 30,000 families in need for 12 months as part of the School Student Broadband Initiative.

The initiative will see SkyMesh provide 50 Mbps fixed line, fixed wireless plus and Sky Muster Plus services to families across Australia who currently lack internet access.

“We believe everyone deserves equal access to the internet and to be able to receive quality education. This initiative is a step forward in providing equal opportunities to students across the country,” says Stephen O’Shanassy, Managing Director of SkyMesh.

“We are proud to be part of the solution and to provide reliable, fast and affordable broadband to families who need it most.”

Participating schools, education authorities, charities and community organizations can nominate eligible families with school-aged children for the programme.

Participating organizations currently include The Smith Family, Catholic Network Australia and Catholic Education WA, with more organizations to be announced soon.

ENABLE HYBRID CLOUD AND REDUCE NETWORK LATENCY WHITEPAPER Hybrid cloud promises to bring the best of both worlds together, allowing businesses to combine the scalability and cost-effectiveness of the cloud with the performance and control you can get from your on-premises infrastructure.

Reducing WAN latency is one of the biggest issues with hybrid cloud performance. By taking advantage of compression and data deduplication you can reduce network latency.

Research firm Markets and Markets has predicted that the hybrid cloud market size is expected to grow from US$38.27 billion in 2017 to US$97.64 billion by 2023.

Colocation facilities offer many of the benefits of having your servers in the cloud, while still maintaining physical control of your systems.

Cloud adjacency provided by colocation facilities can enable you to take advantage of their low latency high bandwidth connections to the cloud as well as provide a solid connection back to your on-premises corporate network.
