Community Bank is delighted to announce that James Murphy has been promoted to Chief Commercial Credit Officer. Murphy brings more than 40 years of banking experience to his new role, where he will be responsible for overseeing all commercial underwriting, loan policy and administration and will work with commercial lines of business leaders to facilitate the growth of the bank’s commercial loan portfolio.

Murphy has been with Community Bank since 2019 as a senior regional credit officer. Prior to Community Bank, he held various commercial banking positions at JP Morgan and predecessor banks.

Murphy received his bachelor’s degree in finance from Siena College and holds an MBA from Russell Sage College. He currently works with Pursuit Lending Corp. as a Loan and Audit Committee member and previously served on the board for Catholic Charities in Albany, NY, as well as the East Greenbush-Castleton Little League as past president. Murphy is a former adjunct professor of various business courses at Russell Sage College.
